Motorola Xoom 3G Update to 3.2 Honeycomb may start Tomorrow

August 3rd, 2011

I wont be calling the Motorola Xoom a 4G device until the upgrade actually happens and apparently that wont be until September or later. At least Xoom owners can look forward to getting timely updates for Android right? Even though the Wi-Fi version was already updated and same with the Transformer to Android 3.2 Honeycomb , it appears the Xoom 3G should start getting it possibly tomorrow.

We have just seen a render of what appears to be the LG Optimus Slider and we don’t know much about it yet although it just hit the FCC . This slider could feature a QWERTY keyboard but it also might be the dual-screen LG Slider we saw here just without the T-Mobile radios.

Consumers Getting Nearly $900 in Free Apps Per Year Via Amazon Free App of the Day

July 7th, 2011

Posted by: Vincent Messina July 7, 2011 We’re always hearing (mostly from competitors) about how “fragmentation” is hurting Android, but in reality, it’s this “fragmentation” that is providing vast choices to the Android consumer. One of those “choices” happens to be Amazon’s App Store. In the beginning, many Android users were wondering where the Amazon App Store would fit in and whether or not another “App Store” was necessary.

High-end Huawei Glory with Android Gingerbread headed to Cricket

June 21st, 2011

Cricket Wireless is certainly not known for offering high-end smartphones, so I was surprised to find out that the regional US carrier is getting ready to launch the Huawei Glory (aka Huawei M886). Now, Huawei usually makes low-to mid-end phones (like the Ascend , released by Cricket at the end of last year), but the Glory is a high-end device and, fortunately, it’s also affordable

Starbucks adds Android, Safeway to mobile payment solution

June 15th, 2011

Starbucks has announced that they will be extending their popular mobile payment system to the Android platform tomorrow, June 15. The system debuted on the BlackBerry and iOS platforms in January, and nine weeks after its release Starbucks claimed to have processed more than 3 million mobile payments. Mobile payments are grounded in the “Starbucks Card” infrastructure; users can use the app to re-load their card, or to produce a scannable barcode that deducts sales totals from the user’s account balance.
