Google Maps 5.0 for Android launched, brings 3D maps, offline reliability
December 16th, 2010Google Maps 5.0 – we first heard of it last week – is now available for Android smartphones, bringing two new and important features. The new version of Maps uses vector graphics, which allows it to display 3D maps – including 3D buildings for more than 100 cities around the world. You can rotate, tilt and zoom in and out the 3D maps.

New Windows Phone 7 devices, including Asus E600, to be launched at MWC 2011
December 16th, 2010Microsoft is reportedly getting ready to officially unveil the second batch of Windows Phone 7 devices this February at MWC 2011. According to DigiTimes and some anonymous sources, one of the new WP7 handsets expected to be announced at MWC is the Acer E600 (which is pictured below and will likely be available in the US via AT&T). MWC aside, it’s said that Microsoft also plans to launch a Chinese edition of Windows Phone 7 sometime in the second half of 2011 – this seems to be in line with the rumored Mango update that should bring support for Far Eastern languages.

Google Instant for mobile available globally. Gmail for Android updated
December 9th, 2010Launched last month only in the US, Google Instant for mobile (Android and iPhone) is now available in 40 countries around the world, supporting 28 languages – though Google doesn’t say which ones exactly.

Android Users Are Not Loyal to their OS, iPhone Users Are
November 30th, 2010We all love our Android devices. Yes, we would like to see faster updates on some phones, but other than that we really enjoy the Android platform. However, in an interesting study conducted of over 2,600 mobile phone users in Brazil, Germany, Spain, Britain, the United States and China the results show that Android only has 28 percent loyalty despite the plurality of manufacturers on which its OS is available.
