NOOKColor humming on Gingerbread thanks to CyanogenMod7

The flexibility of the Barnes and Noble NOOKColor shows itself again as the Android eReader has been rooted to become a full-on Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) tablet. The mod, based on CyanogenMod7, has completely wiped out the BN ebook reader overlay and has also overclocked the NOOKColor’s 800 Mhz processor in order to get it run smoothly

Samsung 2GHz dual-core Smartphone incoming; Exynos to take on Snapdragon

Samsung’s Galaxy S II may have gone through an overclock before it even launched, taking the dual-core CPU to 1.2GHz (and handily matching the HTC Sensation ) but apparently the company has even higher ambitions for mobile processors in the coming months. According to Korea’s Maeli Business Newspaper , Samsung is planning a 2GHz dual-core smartphone “by next year”

AppNinjas card swipe used by girl Scouts, iOS 4.3 hints at iPhone 5 processor, Square says VeriFone claims not accurate

AppNinjas has announced that it has tied up with the Girl Scouts in Ohio to allow the scouts to sell cookies and charge using credit cards. The AppNinjas Swipe and app are being used to handle the card payments.

Nvidia confirms Samsung Tegra 2 phone is Galaxy S II variant

  We did speculate earlier but now Nvidia has confirmed that the Samsung phone using the Tegra 2 chip is indeed their upcoming Galaxy S II. ITProPortal was shown a presentation slide where Nvidia mentioned “three smartphone design wins for the Tegra 2 SoC,” including Samsung Galaxy S II

Xoom overclocked at XDA

Droid X2 Specs leaked

Last month , we leaked that the Droid X2 was coming to Verizon.  We didn’t have much in the way of details, but we do now.  Check out these specs … According to Droid Police, the Droid X2 is getting the 1 Ghz Tegra 2 Processor, a 4.3″ HD display and will run Android 2.2 (Froyo) and maybe 2.3 by launch time with a new version of MOTOBLUR. In addition, it’ll have an 8MP read facing camera.

eyeSight brings gesture recognition tech to Android tablets

Last time we heard from eyeSight was when the company rolled out the Natural User interface for Android devices back in June of 2010 . The company is back with a new gesture user interface for Android devices that can turn hand gestures into commands on the tablet. The technology will also run on Windows tablets, it uses the 2D camera on the Android tablets, and needs no camera upgrade of any sort to operate

Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon Chips Coming This Year

Dual-core processors were all the rage at this year’s CES. NVIDIA announced availability of their Tegra 2 processors in upcoming “Superphones,” and now Qualcomm has stated that their Snapdragon processors will be going dual-core this year
