Android return rate 30-40% on some handsets according to sources
July 26th, 2011I think that some of this is anecdotal, the more devices you ship the larger the number of returns due in part to sheer volume. With Android smartphones, shipping in larger volumes globally than the iPhone it would make more sense to some extent to see more returns on Android devices. Adobe updates Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 to support more platforms
June 20th, 2011Adobe has announced that it has updated some of its software for devs to allow the developers to use the platform for new platforms. The update is for Adobe Flash builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5. The two platforms were updated for support with Android in April of this year.

Android developer momentum wanes claims new report
April 26th, 2011Android developer enthusiasm has “plateaued” according to the latest research by Appcelerator and IDC, with sluggish Honeycomb-based tablet sales and ongoing concerns regarding platform fragmentation cited as the key reasons. According to the two companies’ April 2011 Mobile Developer Report , “developer momentum is shifting back toward Apple.” Tablet interest is particularly precarious, with Honeycomb apparently yet to convince developers to create slate-specific titles.

Google’s Andy Rubin denies Android lock-down
April 7th, 2011Android lead Andy Rubin has challenged rumors that Google is locking down the OS , taking to the official Android Developers blog to deny that there has been “a change in strategy” in how it deals with OEMs, modifications, or hardware. “Our approach remains unchanged: there are no lock-downs or restrictions against customizing UIs” Rubin insists. “There are not, and never have been, any efforts to standardize the platform on any single chipset architecture.” Talk of a more stringent approach to Android modification broke last week, with insiders claiming Google had begun to prioritize vendors who would agree not to modify the OS or its UI.
