Verizon Wireless Intros $20 Plan with 300MB Data for select regions
August 12th, 2011While a good deal is a good deal and not to be passed up this seems more like a gap between a real data plan and those feature phone plans. Today Verizon Wireless is launching a new back to school data plan for only $20 with 300mb of data connectivity when bundled with a new voice plan. The odd part is this is not widespread and only available starting in select Verizon regions, this may be a test run to start things off.

Samsung Galaxy R Gets Official, Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-core [Hands-On]
August 10th, 2011Today Samsung and NVIDIA have officially announced the next NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered Android smartphone and that is the Samsung Galaxy R. This will basically be the little brother to the Galaxy S II that we have heard so much about of late. Now this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Galaxy R as it leaked a few weeks back and even appeared on video but this announcement makes it all official.

Smartphone OS dominance, Orange Film to Go, Apple disabling non dev iOS 5 beta devices
August 8th, 2011ComScore has offered up data on the dominance of certain smartphone OS’ on a state-by-state level. It appears that most of the iOS dominance is in the north and east parts of the US with most middle and southern states leaning towards Android. Orange is offering a new Film to Go service that offers a pre-selected free movie rental via iTunes each Thursday that can be watched at any time in the following 30 days.

HTC EVO 4G+ packs WiMAX into Sensation
June 23rd, 2011HTC has quietly launched the HTC EVO 4G+ , a new 4.3-inch qHD dual-core Android smartphone that’s basically the company’s latest Sensation variant. While ostensibly a WiBro Android smartphone for the Korean market, there’s a fair chance that the EVO 4G+ could get a US launch on WiMAX networks
Verizon LTE Launching in 13 More Markets July 21st
June 22nd, 2011Verizon’s the biggest carrier in the U.S. and their size is allowing them to churn out 4G faster than any of the other carriers. Verizon has promised to get LTE to over 140 markets by the end of the year, and so far has activated its super speedy 4G in 74 cities
