Motorola XOOM Android 3.1 update this week; WiFi XOOM “within the next several weeksâ€
May 12th, 2011Motorola has confirmed a timescale for the XOOM Android 3.1 upgrade , announced earlier this week at Google IO . As expected, the Verizon version of the XOOM will get the update first, with the new software rolling out this week. As for those with WiFi-only XOOM tablets, or those with the 3G version but on carriers other than Verizon Wireless, they’ll be getting Android 3.1 “within the next several weeks.†That staggered release schedule is likely to come as something of a disappointment.
HP TouchPad passes FCC, will launch soon
April 27th, 2011HP’s first attempt at a tablet, the TouchPad, just passed through the FCC today. This means that a commercial launch is imminent. A leaked document that was discovered early March stated that the TouchPad was expected to launch in June.

The latest hack comes from CM7 Developer “Kmoobs†who managed to bring bluetooth capability to it through CM7 Nightly for Encore which takes advantage of the hidden bluetooth capability of the NookColor’s WiFi chip.
