Google Search Experience Optimized for Tablets

Today Google’s Mobile Division have announced improvements made to their Android and iOS tablet-specific experience for search on the web. As part of their efforts to continue to evolve the way Google’s search engine and overall Google experience functions, they’ve simplified the layout of search results and increased the size of page contents like test, buttons and other touch targets to make it easier and more enjoyable to use Google specifically on your Android or iOS tablet. These changes are specific to the tablet experience, making one again a specific effort to make each platform as strong as the next on the part of Google for their main web presence

Root Tools: an Open Source Toolkit for Developers

Posted by: Chuck Falzone March 23, 2011 Root Tools is a new open source project aimed at making life easier for developers of apps that require root. The library already includes about half a dozen methods, including ways to remount, send shell commands, find busybox, and more. As the project’s Google Code homepage states, “In the long run the goal of this project will be to make it easier for developers to create rooted apps by creating libraries that will help them do routine things without having to constantly re-write code.” The project was started by Stericson , who you may know as the man behind MetaMorph, NinjaMorph and the Android version of Busybox

Google Places opens up new features

Google Places has added some extra search features which will make it easier for users to find what they’re looking for when they’re on the go. Under the Places tab, there’s now an option to show only businesses that are open now. That’s sure to come in handy for a late night snack after an evening of clubbin’.

Music videos come to Android YouTube app

Music fans that have the Android app for YouTube got some good news yesterday when the streaming site announced that music videos would now be offered on its streaming app. The updated app gets access to the VEVO catalog of music videos on the YouTube 2.0 app

Android Market now Available Via Google Mobile Search

It’s been hinted at for a while now, and it’s here. Now users have the option of seeing Android Market search results directly from their mobile browser via Google Search. To find Applications you will need to navigate to the more tab in the top right of your screen, select Android Apps and on top of news, videos, and image results you will now have the option to be linked directly to the Android Marketplace

Samsung Captivate and Samsung Fascinate Commercials Emerge

Samsung has released promo videos for both the Samsung Captivate and Samsung Fascinate, which are heading to AT&T and Verizon respectively. We already know the pricing for the Captivate: $199.99 on a new, two-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate.
