Huawei has decided to be a little more aggressive in its smartphone strategy this year. As a consequence, after last year’s pretty good launch and sales of the original Ideos Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone, the company decided to cover all the price points with Android devices. Hence, the Ideos X5 (alongside the high-end X6, and the lower-end X3 , but more on these in a bit).
The Huawei Ideos X6 has hit the FCC, and in doing so all but revealed that it’s headed to T-Mobile in the US. That’s because of the presence of AWS-band support in it, of which T-Mobile is the biggest user.

The existence of the Ideos X5 by Huawei has been known for quite some time, but here at CES we were given the opportunity to get some real hands-on time with the device and learn about what’s under the hood. So let’s hop to it! Specs of the Huawei Ideos X5 include: Android 2.2, upgradeable to 2.3 Flash 10.1 (all content, such as videos and games) 720p HD video support Wi-Fi hotspot 4 GB ROM MicroSD support up to 32 GB Camera: 5 MP with LED flash Swype keyboard inclusion FM radio 3.8″ TFT 800×480 display (capacitive) 1500 mAh battery UMTS 900/2100/AWS Qualcomm processor 7230, 800 MHz 512 MB RAM There are no details on pricing as of this moment, but will be available “before mid-2011″.

At the beginning of the month , Huawei showed off a pair of their upcoming Android-powered smartphones. Unfortunately, while the image worked as a general tease, there wasn’t a lot of information tagged along for the ride
Check it out, a couple new phones for the Australian Market – both of them from Huawei, both of them Running Android 2.2 Froyo. They’re the IDEOS X5 and X6, both of them with timing and pricing yet to be revealed

First seen at the end of October, the Huawei Ideos X5 and Ideos X6 are now official, as Huawei has announced them in Australia.

Announced today at IFA-2010 was a little handset called the Ideos, by Huawei. This will be a Vanilla 2.2 Android device that has a 2.8 inch capacitive display with a resolution of 320×240, and 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera without a flash.
Huawei is going to officially announced their first Android 2.2 handset at IFA in Berlin. They will be launching the Ideos U8150 on September 2, which one day faster than the international consumer electronics show’s debut.
