iOS 4.3.1 Coming Soon, Will Include Bug Fixes

March 21st, 2011

I don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone, but Apple has iOS 4.3.1 in the works and will be coming soon to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch near you. To be expected on an update like this (meaning, x.x.1), there won’t be any added functionality to it, just a few bug fixes and extra jailbreaking hoops to jump through. Here’s the likely list of fixes the update will bring: Baseband updates for the 3GS and iPad (original) Fixed memory hang that results in memory corruption when reading large files from USIM filesystem Fixed problem with NTLM authentication in apps and on websites Fixed issue with the Springboard and 3rd party apps not recgonizing the gyroscope on the iPad 2 Fixed iPad 2 jailbreak vulnerability BGR says this update will come out in the next week or two

A Hint of Things to Come for Google Voice VoIP?

March 8th, 2011

Posted by: Ray Walters March 8, 2011 There is an interesting article over at the Disruptive Telephony site, talking about how the author has gotten his Google Voice number to work entirely over IP, using something called a “SIP” address to initiate the voice session.  In an unofficial way, the author of the article is saying that VoIP calling is already possible with Google Voice.  (although his method has not worked for everyone who has tried)   Here is a quote from the article: For some of us who have had Google Voice numbers for quite some time (mine dates back to the pre-Google-acquisition GrandCentral days), it’s always been a bit frustrating that the only way to call a GV number was through the good old PSTN.
