Google Offices Raided by Korean Fair Trade Commission

It appears that Google’s Seoul offices have been raided today by Korean trustbusters looking for information on the possible stoppering of search opponents in the company’s mobile operating system Android. Search engine company NHN (popular in the area) and Daum Communications this past April asked the country’s Fair Trade Commission to investigate Google’s mobile search business practices

Google enhances mobile search for iOS and Android

Like it has done it quite a few times before, Google has launched new features that will help Android and iOS users search and find what they need faster via the Google mobile homepage. First of all, the mobile homepage now includes shortcut icons for commonly searched local categories, including restaurants, bars, coffee hops, gas stations and ATMs. These will provide quick access to more detailed results, as well as a map that “remains at the top of the page and adjusts automatically to the listing you are looking at.” Another new enhancement is related to typing searches.

Latest Nook e-Reader Comes With Undocumented Web Browser

The iPad and Kindle might want to make some extra room for their little cousin, the Nook.  Barnes and Noble’s latest offering, the Nook Simple Touch Reader, has an undocumented “hidden” Web browser that allows users to access their email and browse headlines. Users that have purchased the new Android device can simply press the virtual “Search” button on the bottom of the Nook’s screen and type in a URL into a search bar when it appears
