Sony-Ericsson launches XPERIA Branded Ray and Active

June 22nd, 2011

Pictured to the left are the two newly announced Sony-Ericsson Android devices named the Ray and the Active respectively.  The Ray being the newest “luxury” model of the XPERIA line, and the Active being a rugged dust-proof and water resistant handset. Both are running Gingerbread, which is good news, but have some different specs as they are targeted at different market segments. Check the specs and full press release out after the break, along with two videos of each handset.  As you can imagine, the Active handset is built to be a little more rugged, targeted at outdoor enthusiasts, Sony is marketing the unit as one that can take the wear and tear of an “active” lifestyle.  The Ray is your more traditional handset, sporting the higher end features that the Active sacrifices for battery life.  Both units were announced for release in Asia, no word on stateside release yet but I would be surprised if we do not see them at some point.  The videos for both handsets are below, as well as the full press releases
