Amazon to Launch it’s Android Tablet Late Summer?
June 22nd, 2011Posted by: Ray Walters June 22, 2011 There is some interesting news this morning about the heavily rumored and worst kept secret in the Android world, namely the tablet device that Amazon is working on to compliment it’s Android app store. According to an article over at Digitimes , the Taiwan based component makers for said tablet are leaking that the units will start shipping in late August early September. Along with the ship date leak, it seems that the sources are confirming that the Amazon device will offer video streaming services from it’s vast library of movies. Check out the text from the article after the break. I have to admit, I am pretty excited to see this tablet get released, here is to hoping that it is priced in the right space! The info from the Digitimes piece: Amazon is poised to step into tablet PCs and will launch models as son as August-September, with targeted global sales of four million units for 2011, according to Taiwan-based component makers. The timing of launch is to meet the peak sales period prior to Thanksgiving in the US and the year-end holidays in the US and Europe, the sources pointed out. Amazon adopts processors developed by Texas Instruments, with Taiwan-based Wintek to supply touch panels, ILI Technology to supply LCD driver ICs and Quanta Computer responsible for assembly, the sources indicated.
