Droid 2 Finally Exposed – Video

June 10th, 2010

Up until now all we’ve seen of the droid 2 is a blurry picture that didn’t even show the entire front of the device. Now we finally get a clear look at the full handset. There’s even a video of the boot screen and you can clearly see that it has a full QWERTY keyboard. It looks almost identical to the original droid that we all know and love.

The keyboard has been upgrade to what appears to be a bigger version of the Cliq’s keyboard. Thankfully that dreaded d-pad is gone and the keyboard has a 4 rows. This is a huge improvement over the original. It also looks like it a bit thinner then the original.

It has a 750MHz OMAP, a 3.7 inch touch screen and 8GB of internal. There will also be a preinstalled 8GB microSD card bringing the grand total to 16GB. There’s a 5 MP camera, it likely has an LED flash. Contrary to the early rumors, there’s no HDMI port and it runs Android 2.1. It’s a possibility that it will get 2.2 by the time it’s released but that’s unlikely.

June 10th, 2010

Yes, it’s that time of day again. It’s time for another Android tablet that we will not see in stores for quite some time. This is a pretty impressive piece of work though. When it does hit, I see a few people snagging this one up.  Malata has introduced a 10-inch tablet, it’s called the SMB-A1011.

This tablet features the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, and a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor. You will have the choice of either 512MB-1GB of ROM, 512MB-1GB of RAM and 2GB-32GB if internal storage. If you haven’t figured out by the options, there will be a few different versions for you to choose from.

There’s also a 3500mAh lithium polymer battery, Mini HDMI-out, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth also makes an appearance, it will run Android 2.1 as well (maybe). As usual, there’s no information on pricing or availability but at least this time we have a video to watch.

Acclaim slider revealed by Samsung

June 9th, 2010

For those of you that are curious how this device looks, we now have a clear picture. When we first heard of this device we thought it was just a rebranded Moment. They do share a lot in common but this is a totally different device.

The Acclaim is an exclusive Android device for U.S. Cellular. It has a 3.2 inch display, full QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.1. Judging from the placement of the highlighted keys, this phone could be designed for gaming. We suspect that it has the same 800 MHZ processor that is in the Moment and it could also have a variant of the “humming bird” GPU that is in the Galaxy S (the latter is a long shot but it could happen). This handset could launch in July along with the Desire, no pricing or release date has been confirmed.
