Sprint intros Motorola Photon 4G with Android Gingerbread

Sprint and Motorola have surprised everyone today with the introduction of two new Android smartphones: the Motorola Photon 4G and the Motorola Triumph. Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Photon 4G is Sprint’s first Moto smartphone to come with WiMax connectivity, as well as the first to rely on a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor

Cincinnati Bell launches Android-powered Huawei Ascend X, its first 4G smartphone

Cincinnati Bell has released its first ’4G’ (read: HSPA+) phone. It’s the Huawei Ascend X, which looks like it’s related to the Ideos X6 (if it isn’t the exact same device). This is an Android-powered smartphone that has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 4.1-inch touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, 2 GB of internal storage, 512 MB of RAM, microSD support up to 32 GB, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and the aforementioned HSPA+, which allows a theoretical download throughput of 14.4 Mbps, and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA

US Cellular HTC Merge will be available on May 31 for $149.99, official press shots leak

Motorola Droid X2 lands on Motorola and Verizon sites, specs confirmed

LG Optimus Black headed to Orange UK

Expected to be released by T-Mobile in the UK next month (May), the LG Optimus Black is also coming to Orange – and maybe that shouldn’t be a surprise, since Orange and T-Mobile have joined forces to form Everything Everywhere.

New BlackBerry Touch 9860 and Bold Touch 9900 promo videos leaked

Two of RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry smartphones have appeared in officially-looking promo commercials. This makes us believe the Canadian company could announce them soon (although, well, everyone expects the new Berries to be unveiled in May). The first commercial shows off the BlackBerry Touch 9860 Monza, aka Touch Monaco .

Sony Ericsson SK17i (Xperia Mini Pro II) shows up again

One of Sony Ericsson’s unannounced Android smartphones – which may be called Xperia Mini Pro II – has appeared in a new set of photos, this time allowing us to take a look at its UI. The handset (model name SK17i) runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and comes with a Corner UI similar to what we’ve seen on the original Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro models. Just like its predecessor, the new Xperia Mini Pro has a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
